I no longer actively work with Coldfusion, but I’m pretty sure that Coldfusion 8 has dramatically removed the overhead for object instantiation.

Thanks for the really kind words on my post, I thought it had become a little long and a un-focused, but I’m really glad you liked it. I’m also really chuffed about the link you’ve put on your site, as I thought the posts of yours that I linked to were a fantastic solution to counteract the current accepted thought in the CF community that taking the easy, or should I say quickest, way out with Gateways is the only or best way to go.

Many thanks for the plug! Funnily, I was checking out who was talking about application generation via Technorati and your entry came up. I loved all of the points you were making, but as I saw you start to talk about Gateways and encapsulation I couldn’t wait to write a comment about how I’d handle that. I thought about even adding links to a couple of articles I’d written, and then as I scrolled down further I saw you’d already done that and more!!!

Been a little less profilic recently, but I’ve been working on a lot of cool improvements that I’ll be blogging about shortly!

Leeds . . . I went to Uni just down the road in Bradford!

I’m not too sure about CakePHP yet, its OK and some of the stuff is nicer than having to do it yourself, e.g. the ORM/Active Record side of things. But at the moment I have 3 equally long lists of good points, bad points and things I can’t figure out whether it can currently do or not. I do plan to cover this a little more in a future post.

Cake is completely ace. We’re using it as framework of choice on a redevelopment of one of our products. It’s so easy to understand, use and makes development proceed very quickly.
